There can't be many trained horticulturists with a résumé as eye-catching as 's. The energetic Australian got his showbiz start in his teens as an exotic dancer in a troupe called Manpower Australia ("I was the lead performer and designed the sets and costumes," he says). But plants, Durie says, "have always been my passion." He went on to found his landscape-design firm, which has offices in Sydney and Los Angeles, where he creates residential gardens for clients like Charlize Theron and Anne Heche, and commercial projects from Singapore to Dubai. This year, his HGTV show enters its fourth season. "My mission is to reconnect people with nature through design," says Durie, who recently launched an . "My goal is to inspire people to fall in love with gorgeous plants and put them in the ground."
