It's no secret that fashion designer Tory Burch has a penchant for botanical prints and floral patterns in her designs (her Summer 2014 collection is very much inspired by her own Hamptons garden!) But we were surprised to find out the inspiration behind that garden.
Burch collaborated with landscape architect to design the perfect layout, inspired by the home's original lawn from the 1920s. "We actually pulled archival photos and recreated the footprint of the planted bed areas," explains Burch. And now the beautiful backyard oasis is in full bloom, showcasing pale pink roses, boxwoods, and Burch's favorite, deep purple-blue of the salvia flowers.
We love the idea of looking to the past to inform the feel and layout of your present garden. Would you try it, like Burch did? Scroll through the photos to see how well it turned out!
