If you asked us to pick our favorite makeover from "," we'd probably respond with a list of our favorite homes filled with shiplap and french doors. Well, was tasked with that choice herself on the recent "clips show," which took a look back at some of the Gaines' past makeovers. Surprisingly, the HGTV star called the mid-century modern home from episode nine of season two, one of her all-time favorites.
While this news might surprise you, Joanna explained that she enjoyed challenging herself to try a new design style. The project was just so different than anything she'd done before! Even Jill and Josh, the homeowners, had never lived in a mid-century modern home before, which is apparently a rare find in Waco. When they found their fixer upper, they thought it would be a great way to blend their individual styles.

Leave it to to take this run down fixer upper from forgotten about to absolutely beautiful. The renovation included cleaning up the exterior, creating an open-concept main floor, and transforming the master bedroom, bathroom, and nursery. We're impressed by how Joanna incorporated her rustic style side-by-side with more modern touches like brass (which Jill adores) and clean white walls.
, Joanna's favorite part of the project was designing the master bedroom. Exposed brick pairs beautifully with modern light figures and soft colors. A personalized sign with the number seven represents that couple's new blended family—their reason for needing this home!
