Despite going through a nasty — and public — split, "Flip or Flop" stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are still filming their hit HGTV show. In the meantime, the network is creating a "Flip or Flop" empire, with five new versions of the show set across the country.
reports that HGTV is creating five spinoffs for "Flip or Flop," and they will take place in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Texas and Las Vegas. But that doesn’t mean Tarek and Christina will be stopping by your town; instead, each city will have its own version of the El Moussas.
The first spinoff show to air will be "Flip or Flop Vegas," which will be hosted by Bristol and Aubrey Marunde, a similar husband-and-wife team of house flippers. Aubrey told that she brings the appropriate Vegas flash to her designs. "I bring in a lot of chandeliers and lighting and hardware and things that take the properties over the top," she said.
That show will premiere April 6, while "Flip or Flop Atlanta" will premiere this summer with Ken and Anita Corsini as the hosts.
reports that former NFL star DeRon Jenkins and his ex, Page Turner, will host the Nashville series, though Turner has posted that the pilot of her show was called "Joined at the Flip." The Nashville and Texas series will air in February 2018, and the Chicago series doesn’t have an air date yet.
This isn’t some sudden scramble to replace the El Moussas after their split. HGTV notes that they have been planning the shows for more than a year. “With the original 'Flip or Flop,' we found that what resonated with viewers was the authenticity, the expertise, the experience and the results they saw in the show,” HGTV exec Allison Page said in a statement. “Because every market is unique, there was an opportunity to highlight what works in various regions by featuring successful people in different locations who had mastered the art of flipping in their town.”
