It's been four years since the first episode of Fixer Upper premiered, and since then, we've loved tuning in each week to see what breathtaking design Joanna will come up with and what new ways Chip will crack us up. On November 28, the Gaineses will finally return with a new lineup of episodes, and it looks like it's shaping up to be a season of many firsts, special guest stars, fresh design, and many more laughs. Here's what you can expect to see this season.

There will be so much more behind-the-scenes action.

Earlier this year, Joanna announced she would be starring in a Fixer Upper spinoff, Behind the Design, which will take a closer look at the work and inspiration behind the decor, materials, and renovations seen in each episode. Fans should stay tuned after each episode ends to learn more about the project from Jo's point of view.

Joanna Gaines' sister will appear in an episode.

In the upcoming season, you'll see the Gaines tackle a very special renovation for Joanna's sister, Mary Kay McCall. While the overhaul was happening, Mary, her husband, and their children moved in with the Gaineses, which means it was a very full farmhouse for Chip and Joanna. Hopefully we'll see some family fun between the Gaineses and McCalls in that episode, too.

Fan favorite Clint Harp will return.

Despite having his own new show on the DIY Network, Clint still made time to work on some custom pieces for Joanna, which will be featured in several reveals this season.

There will be more color and pattern in Joanna's work.

While we all know Joanna loves her farmhouse staples — whites, ivories, and neutrals — you can expect to see her shake it up. Over the last few weeks, Magnolia Market has given fans glimpses of the designs and rooms Joanna has completed for season 5, and it seems like bright prints and patterns are inspiring her lately.

The designer will venture away from subway tile.

You can look forward to seeing some fresh farmhouse ideas from the designer like this interesting alternative to subway tile.

And there will be plenty more shiplap.

Shiplap in the entryway, on the walls, and covering the stairs — we love it already!

We may get an insider's look at the Hillcrest Estate.

While there's been no mention of the Gaineses' new vacation rental making its debut on the show, the renovation overlapped with season 5 filming, so we're hoping they'll give us a detailed look at the makeover just like they did with the Silos Bakery and Magnolia House.

Most importantly, Chip will be up to his usual hysterical antics.
