Tiny house living has been all the rage the past few years, and has given rise to an entire cottage industry of small space decorating hacks and design ideas, but what about skinny house living? The ultra-narrow 'Slim House' in London is for sale, and shots of the interior showcase brilliant ways to maximize space in a home no wider than a subway car.

The Slim House, which just or around $1.4 million, measures just 7 feet, 7 inches across. It's an example of the time-honored big city tradition of the "" — an irregularly shaped dwelling designed to fit into an odd pocket of negative space in a densely settled region. In this case, the house is situated in a narrow alley that once offered stable access.

The slender facade of the house is wedged tightly between the two neighboring buildings, but the interior of the house, redesigned in 2013 by London design firm , is given over to creating as much room and light as possible in the attenuated home.

Jasper Collivar, who represents the listing, notes, "Its unique proportions make The Slim House a really rare find and one of just a handful in London. Having been extended by its former owners, the property has been cleverly designed with well-placed storage and bespoke fittings to maximise the 1,058 square feet of living accommodation."

In the walk-through kitchen that opens onto a small dining nook, galley-style countertops and space efficient storage, like the open front dish rack and hanging utensil hooks, help keep the flow of traffic moving.

In the front hall, clever built-in shelving makes use of the vertical space on the walls, and a pocket of space under the stairs is dedicated to storage.

During the 2013 redesign, Alma-nac created a lofted extension to add one room to each floor – the dining room, a larger master bed, and a third floor bedroom. This clever addition has a sloped wall to allow more light in and to extend ceiling heights.

Despite its tight dimensions, the property also includes a narrow, carefully designed garden than makes ample use of the narrow lot and the overhead sunlight.
