Last weekend, Paris suffered one of its greatest natural disasters in 30 years. The Seine River, which runs through the north of France and cuts through the heart of Paris, flooded 13 feet above its normal level last Saturday. And despite the destruction it caused to the city, one woman managed to capture beauty in the chaos.
The Instagram user, who goes by the handle , took to the streets to photograph the incredible outcome of the disaster, posting six black and white pictures from each of the major bridges that cross over the Seine, including Pont Alexandre III, Pont Neuf and Pont des Arts.
According to the , the flood devastated hundreds of nearby towns and forced iconic museums including the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay to shut down and relocate their art temporarily; Museum officials were concerned that the flood might push water up through the sewers into the exhibits. The flood also caused the death of four individuals and an upheaval of pollution citywide.
The water height has dropped since Sunday evening, but city officials believe that it could take weeks for the city to recover from the damage.
