Travel The World Like This 27-Year-Old Who's Going To Every Country

She plans to complete the list of 196 countries by the end of the year.

Talk about an amazing race: 27-year-old triathlete will soon make history as the first female to have visited all 196 countries on Earth in less than a year — the fastest long-distance travel time on record.

The globetrotter is on a mission to leave her mark on all 196 sovereign states by the end of 2016 in an attempt to shatter a Guinness World Record as the 'Fastest Person to Travel the World.'

At the same time, De Pecol has been busy advocating for world peace as an ambassador for the International Institute of Peace through Tourism (IIPT), and has been documenting her travels for her website , in effort to raise awareness for sustainable travel.

Originally from Washington, Connecticut, De Pecol has already toured 181 countries, including Kosovo, Cambodia, and the Philippines, since launching the epic voyage in July 2015.

Along the way, De Pecol has also been collecting water samples for the Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation in an effort to test for the presence of micro-plastics.

In a , De Pecol says, "for me, this expedition is a matter of maximizing every single moment that I have within a given day, to absorb as much as I can with the little time that I have on this earth."

With over 245 flights under her belt, De Pecol has spent a whopping $198,000 on travel expenses — thanks in massive part to sponsor donations. In addition, by showcasing eco-friendly, luxury hotels to her over 80,000 followers via Instagram, resorts including Six Senses, Soneva and Secret Bay, have provided De Pecol with free accommodations, reports .

If De Pecol is able to triumphantly complete her marathon of a journey by the end of this year, she will dethrone two of the fastest male world travellers currently on record: , who completed the journey in just under four years, and , who toured all 196 countries in three years, three months and six days in 2010.

De Pecol visits each destination for two to five days and has gone through four passports en voyage. Via , she humblebrags, "[I] will probably go through one more of these bad boys before I finish."
