Som says he drew inspiration from artists Anne Truitt and Ellsworth Kelly. “I love their expressive and thoughtful celebrations of color. I mixed that with the effortless ease of menswear patterns—herringbones and stripes. For me, its always about the mix of masculine and feminine—and now more than ever that dialogue is exciting.”

Som, who has a background in fashion design, explains how his time in fashion helped inform his designs for this collection. “It was about creating a cohesive mix of prints that could work together seamlessly, but also give the option to pick out one print that could stand alone. I love The Inside’s timeless furniture styles—the clean lines, the thoughtful proportions, the trim details—all of these elements married so well with the prints,” he says.

The entire collection feels equal parts irreverent and timeless, or as Som puts it, “perfect for now, perfect for later.” Muted blues and grays are met with a classic herringbone pattern; simple florals are modernized with touches of neon yellow. Som blurs the lines between masculine and feminine, creating a new sense of expression and freedom, which he weaved throughout the collection.

“I have always loved the mix of men's tailoring and traditional men’s fabrics for women,” says Som. The made-to-order pieces range, appealingly, from $49 to $999. The marriage of form and function was crucial to Som, evident in pieces like his multi-use ottoman that can serve as extra seating, or be transformed into a coffee table. "It's all about practicality married with beautiful prints in great styles," he says.
